Heatmap 2.0

The quick version of this article: check out the new heatmap at http://www.graffitigeo.com/heat

Imagine looking for restaurants on a map that looked like this:

We've solved this problem by clustering the icons on top of a heatmap, representing the hottest places in your area.

If you zoom out, we will show you that there are lots of places in an area using an icon like this:

Fewer clicks is better

When you roll your mouse over our new heatmap, you can quickly see the ratings, which are collected from multiple sources (and of course, our own users have contributed their votes too).

All of this answers the fundamental question: where should I go tonight?

Particularly useful if you're traveling to a new area and don't know your way around.  We can show you that ala doppler radar: http://www.graffitigeo.com/heat

Gray icons are bad, you should stay away.
A gray icon means a restaurant or location isn't so hot -- our minimum passing grade is a B, so if the place has less than 80% positive ratings, it will be grayed out.  These ratings are based on data we've collected from multiple sources, such as Zagat, and from our own users.

Example: That looks like a bad bar, it's probably 90% dudes or overpriced drinks.

Colorful icons are good, you should check it out.

Any place with a colorful icon means it has 80% or more positive ratings.

Example: That looks like a good fast food place to go (ie In N Out)
